September is a busy month for the many students returning to school, but it can also be a great time to learn about what VA has to offer. Our recruiting team will be attending events around the country and helping you learn about how you can start a career serving Veterans.
In September, we’ll be attending events with:
- Pri-Med East, from Sept. 12-14, 2024
- American Association of Family Physicians (AAFP), from Sept. 24-28, 2024
- American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), from Sept. 29-Oct. 2, 2024
- American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), from Sept. 29-Oct. 2, 2024
Prepare for Providence
Pri-Med East is hosting its Primary Care CME/CE Conference and Expo from Sept. 12-14, 2024, in Providence, Rhode Island. This conference offers continuing medical education and continuing education credits for busy primary care providers, with an eye toward integrating new and updated practices, therapies, and tools into your daily practice.
Connect with our recruiting team even as you connect with your primary care colleagues to get more information about how bringing your primary care career to VA can help you make a difference in the lives of Veterans, and for yourself.
“Where else can you practice meaningful, team-based, and comprehensive primary care in a manner that serves a higher purpose while also maintaining your individual life-work balance?” said Dr. Dhruv Gadhia, a deputy associate chief of staff in the VA Maryland Health Care System.

Rise in Phoenix
The American Association of Family Physicians (AAFP) will host FMX 2024 in Phoenix, Arizona, from Sept. 24-28, which promises to explore exclusive education, offer inspirational moments, and celebrate all things related to family medicine.
Meet with our recruiters at this event and you’ll be able to learn why working at VA also means time for your own family.
“At VA, you’ll know what it’s like to have your family count on you being there for games, anniversaries, birthdays, and special occasions,” said Brad Cargill, a VA physician-provider recruiter.

Bet on yourself in Las Vegas
The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) will meet in Las Vegas, Nevada, for ACEP 24 from Sept. 29-Oct. 2, 2024. This year’s event offers a new course series that provides a variety of engaging learning experiences and features advanced content and cutting-edge topics.
Our recruiters will be on-hand to help you find out anything you want to know about bringing your talents to VA and share why emergency medicine is VA’s “hidden gem.”
“Being the largest integrated health care network in the nation, there are unlimited opportunities for emergency physicians at the VA. From rural emergency departments to high-volume urban sites, from solo practice to multi-attending resident teaching emergency departments and urgent care centers, there’s an option for everyone,” shared Dr. Neil Patel and Dr. Chad Kessler.

Elect to excel in Washington, D.C.
For the second of the events we’ll be attending from Sept. 29-Oct. 2, 2024, we’ll join the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) for ASTRO 2024. The meeting’s theme, “Targeting Provider Wellness for Exceptional Patient Care,” will explore your own wellness and how it can impact patient care.
It’s as if the theme of the event was tailor-made for us, because VA offers an unparalleled balance between life and work, which our recruiters can tell you all about.
“You’ll have a great work-life balance. You’ll work Monday through Friday, no on-call, no weekends, and on average you’ll see 12-14 patients per day, giving you plenty of time to build a great doctor-patient relationship,” said Jason Tafoya, one of our national health care recruitment consultants.
